Compare and Contrast: UB Iwerks and Skeletons
First is the Disney classic from 1929 Skeleton Dance:
UB Iwerks was the major force behind Disney's first cartoons. After he left Disney and formed his own studio he did not fair as well. In this next cartoon, from 1937, he reworks his older effort in color.

Various Kicks found on Rt. 66
If you poke around the old Rt. 66 you can discover chunks of American pop culture by the roadside. Case in point, a little show called, naturally enough, Route 66. This was a sort of anthology type show with a different story every week with only a couple of guys who liked to drive around in a convertible Corvette to provide continuity. They had a jazzy theme song that went something like this:
This is most definitely not the well known song heard here:
But the composer certainly seems to have heard of it.
Anyway, one week they had Peter Lorre, Boris Karloff and Lon Chaney Jr. as guest stars playing, well themselves in an episode called Lizard's leg and Owlet's wing. Links are below, enjoy.
